I strongly prefer AIM.. I never understood people who use ICQ.. real-time chatting is Incredibly slow and menu is complicated and overwhelming at first..

true, you can argue that ICQ is more solid and has more features for non-newbies, however, AIM has come a looong way since.. the latest AIM (4.7) has just about everything that ICQ has.. just with cleaner interface.

As for MSN, I never bothered with it because such programs are for chatting and socializing mostly and none of my friends use MSN..

What do you prefer?

Oh yea.. AOL.. that's a whole different story.. I pity you if you use laggy AOL and it's console

ICQ is the best (I would use 99b or 2000a though), and MSN/AIM are tied for second, they both have different ups and downs.

I use ICQ.. don't get my wrong, I hate it. It's cluttered, bloated, buggy, and slow.... but everyone has it.

I use ICQ and MSN, I only use MSN because lots of computer illiterate people around here find it easier than ICQ...

The only thing I use now is AIM. I used to use ICQ and AIM, but ICQ became too much.. Advertisements, confusion, bloatware, and many other words are great synonyms for "ICQ". I accidentally got MSN Messenger and it seemed pretty cheap.. Just like that Yahoo thing. But, like I said, the only thing I use now is AIM due to it's simplicity.

I use AIM since most of my friends have AOL as their ISPs and don't know how to chat other than what AOL provides.

Trillian! I suggest everyone here check it out. It allows you communicate with people on either of the three clients, and has a great interface too with changable skins.

Trillian connects to more than just three:
AIM
ICQ
MSN
Yahoo Messenger
some others, but I don't have it on this machine currently, so I couldn't tell ya exactly what.

I used to use ICQ when it FIRST came out, it was cool then, but all the new betas and stuff sucked, too much crap on the menus and stuff. I now use AIM, l like it so much more
