Looking at a friend's right now: Idle time is 14 hrs, 7 minutes. Online time is 7 hrs 58 minutes. Every so often I notice something like this in AIM. What gives?

seen that happening, often happens if they leave the computer, go idle, their connection dies but their computers automatically reconnect a few minutes later, hence resetting online time but keeping the idle time the same.

happens when they get disconnected from their ISP and than reconnect right after. For instance, lets say you are connected for 4 hours and were idle for 3 hours, than you get disconnected for a split second. you will be signed on for 1 minute and have an idle time of 3 hours.

There is a program called "Instant Idler". It can set you idle as much as 43 days I think.

What's the point of that?

I use it when I wanna talk to someone, but don't wanna get bothered by others asking "Why are you not replying to my IMs?". They see I am idle, so they quit bothering me while I am IMing with whoever I want to.
