AIM gone the way of MSN?!?

So my AOL Instant Messenger asked me to update yesterday, so I did. I turn on my computer this morning to see that AOL has intergrated AIM with Outlook Express! They even "borrowed" buddy icons from MSN messenger to show my buddies in the contact list. I finally got rid of MSN messenger for good so it doesn't intefere with my e-mail and now THIS?
Furthermore, whenever I log on to AIM, it asks me to register with Netscape, which I don't want to do. So now it asks me every single time.

I have yet to find an option to disable these annoyances. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lose your other IM programs and try Trillian... Been using it for awhile and it works great. No ads, no annoyances.

Yeah, I would use Trillian, but I'm just partial to the AIM layout. Anyway, I think I fixed part of the problem.

You can dl skins for Trillian which make it almost identical to AIMs interface.

Yah, under preferences, and sign on/off, uncheck "make aim my default instant messenger".

to stop it from asking you about nutscrape, just keep hitting the X or Cancel, and it will give up eventually.

What I wish is AIM would allow you to send IMs to people who are offline, and they can just get them later.

Thats Microsofts way. When in doubt just swallow it up and try to make it their own.

As for saving messages. It would be nice however only problem would be how stores the
message before it can be delivered? AOL, Microsoft? Ya thats what I want.
At that point thought you are basically just sending email using an IM interface.

ICQ has been doing it for years

Yahoo messenger has been doing it since I started using it years ago too. When you log on and someone had sent you a message while you were offline, you will get the offline messages pop up to show you the messages you missed.

Uh, beavis. I think it's MSN that's gone the way of AIM since they've been doing it longer.

The very original ICQ was the shiz (I had a 6 digit id number back in the day hehe). Everything since has just gone downhill... more bloatware, no compatibility, more bloatware, no compatibility then came the ad banners, the spam, the IM worms & viruses.

It's all suck.

I'd like to hear the justification behind this...trillian is one of the best IM clients out there as far as I am concerned. Allowing you to chat using AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, and IRC in one client is quite the accomplishment. It uses generally very memory when compared to any of the other IM clients. Small install footprint as long as you dont download a crap load of skins. Did I mention it is fully skinable? How about the fact that it doesn't attach itself to your OS or email clients by installing countless toolbars here and there? And for those that need extra features, there is the pro version which allows you to use plugins...

FINALLY! YAY!!! No more AIM 4.8 after that!!! And I HATE Trillian... I dunno why, it just doesn't feel right.

Is there a program that allows you to contact people on several Messenger networks? Does Trillian allow this? And yeah I think the feature where you could send offline messages (not emails) was cool....Yahoo Messenger had that.

Yep, same with ICQ. MSN and AIM should implement the feature. There isn't really any reason not to.
