Aileron Roll vs. Barrel Roll

Aileron roll keeps you on the same axis. Barrel roll is like you're rolling over the outside of a large barrel.

the purpose of a barrel roll is to evade enemy fire by flying in a pattern that's hard to lead.

an aileron roll wouldn't make you any harder to hit than flying in a strait line.

False. Top Gun shows that you can easily evade cannon fire with an aileron roll.

false, by doing a true barrel roll (ie that phoney baloney aileron roll) you excite the G-diffusers into creating a force field pulse that deflects enemy blasts away from the Arwing
