How many people have had sex without using a condom? I have and I'm sure many other Americans have as well. With that said, I have a feeling there are a lot of people walking around who are HIV positive and they don't even know it. These are the same people that will be dating other people and they will be transmitting the disease to other unexpected people.

Would you people like to see a mandated government program that makes people be tested every year? Everyone has to be tested. Even married couples because cheating does occur and the partner could give the disease to their mate.

Imagine if the government states that American citizens between the ages of 17-75 have to be tested every year. Would you like to see this happen? Imagine if half of the US population was HIV positive? Would you like to see this happen as well, because with the way things are going this scenario might be a reality!

The increase in the number of people who have HIV/AIDS can also be attributed to medication that allows those with it to live longer. ;)

If 51% of people with AIDS/HIV are black, and 45% of those with AIDS/HIV are gay, I wonder how many are black and gay?
I have heard that a good majority of HIV positive homosexuals are African Americans. Particularly something about being on the low-down.
Is any of this true?

Mandatory testing of whom?

For me? I vote no. No mandatory testing... ever!!!

For you? Sure, why not. It's not me they'll be sticking with a needle. :p I vote that they test you every week for the next 40 years or until they discover a cure.

I don't agree with this. It's too much government intervention / cowards and idiots wanting Big Brother to make it 'safe' for them.

Absolutely anyone going out dating and having sex is doing it without condoms time to time and if you count orally, then ALOT...it's the same difference in that aspect. People just foolishly make up their own 'rules'.

Whenever you are out with someone and planning a night in the sheets, you have to at least have a clue they could have every cootie known to man. It's always a risk. You play your life as safe and as happy as you can, and that's that. Skydivers, race car drivers, skiers all die for their fun at times.

So what happens if you get tested? Test Results are private so no one would know anyway... And those that got it because of sleeping around wouldn't care and would just contniue to do so.

The assumption would be it'd become public.

I like those that think it's mostly the 'stupid' messing up sex for others.

In fact it's those having it that are.

People that think that way also always think every g/f they have must be a virgin or only with a 'few' guys. Facts are at younger ages most girls/women have way more partners than men....and then it adjusts as many of the women 'settle down', meet future husbands...but a lot of guys are marrying later than women and working their numbers up.

I don't know about other's but dating as an adult is usually going to end in sex if not the first date by the 2nd/3rd....if it's not in the cards usually you don't do date #2 unless you are just desperate. Then after the 'sex' date, if you really don't want to see them again, all you owe them is "I don't think this will work for me"....that's it.

The fear mongers still don't get the fact that HIV is a "lifestyle" disease and is 100% preventable. The chances of the average American contracting HIV even through unprotected heterosexual sex is rather remote....unless one or both partners fit into the high risk groups.

No. If you contract it in this day and age you are a moron. Why should I get tested? I don't engage, and never have in the sort of activity that would get me HIV. It's a modern-day darwinism.

HIV/aids infections, per capita, are like twice as high in the US as in Canada. If you have it, get a brain.

Many that get it think the same thing.

If you go out and have sex you have a chance to get it. Some chick you bang may be all office like now, on the church board, religious, and very conservative, but 5 years ago was sharing needles with heroin users, forgets about 80% of the guys she has slept with, had no STD's she knows of, but when she got tested the last time showed no HIV, but it was there and now it's lingering inside her (replace her above with him if that is you view, as I am just talking from a man's view looking at women).

You use proper protection, waiting a few months to bang her, going out on church dates, meeting her parents first, talking your furture....you get to Hotel 69 and your condom breaks. (This too is no guarantee to get AIDS, even if the person has it, but say you are unlucky...)

viola...you did everything you should have, and still lost. There are more than 100 people out there in this boat. 90% are those that were doomed from the start. You have that 10% though that just get caught with their pants down, literally.

you go geek!

We could make them wear clothes that have the letter A sewn into the chest in red.

So you and wife were both virgins when you met and have only had sex with each other?

True, there are some you could contract in other ways, but aside from sex and drug needles, the chances are veeeeery slim that you could contract anything from, for example, a public toilet seat.

But we're talking about AIDS here. Unless you know the complete sexual history of yourself and your partner, every partner you and your partners partners have had sex with, every partner that the partners of your partners partners have had... I'm sure people get the point.

It's like that six degrees thing. I'm sure that you can probably trace everyone to having sex with Kevin Bacon in six steps. ;)

I think it should be manditory testing for life insurance and medical insurance. but I also think smokers should get hit with a higher bit for those two also, why should my life/medical insurance premiums be this high when I'm low risk for most of the things that cost the insurance companies the largest portion?

Actually, Aids can be easily wiped out... :)

refuse to treat those who became infected due to gross neglegance...assist those whose infection were "misfortunate" (rape, husband cheating, wife cheating, blood transfusion etc.).

Let the rest die... even if they transmit the disease, mandatory testing will discover those who have it...and eventually they will die ;)

;) is right, I find this argument falls in two categories....

those that are dating and having sex and those that have sex with *someone*.

the former don't want to think about it....they know the risk.

the latter wants hangings because their 'muse' did Hank and Jerry in a tagteam her freshman year.
