AHHHHHHHHHh damn you new job

Danman

Lifer
I have been working here about a month at my new job. I still have NOT got paid yet. Today was supposed to be my first pay day and I was all giddy like a school girl. I go to my Human Resources boss and she tells me that she completely forgot about turning in my packet for payroll and such. :Q She was like "I'm so sorry, this never happened to me!"

So now I have to wait another two weeks to get paid. I've been waiting 4 weeks already!!!! :| :|

*shakes fist*

I think you would be justified to ask for a payroll advance. Most companies have a way of doing that - they give you some money now, then deduct it from the actual paycheck when it is processed.

It's a pretty good job, I'm a network tech here.

Kranky do all companies do that? I really don't wanna sound desperate if I ask, and I don't even know if they do that.

What.. you work in a sweatshop, don't you ? 🙂 Are you sure there's nothing you can do to get them to expedite the paperwork since it's been a FRIGGIN MONTH ?! I'd go apesh!t on them.

Well,"I'm sorry" isn't an acceptable answer imho, somebody there needs to get a check cut for you ASAP.

She told me she was turning in the paperwork by herself today, but I really didn't ask if it would change anything. I think everyone gets paid on the same day, no matter what.

That will be one nice check though.

Provided that you don't get evicted, car reposessed, or have large ill tempered Italian gentelmen looking for you in the meantime.

Unacceptable. Tell them that, at the least, you'll need an advance on that 6 week paycheck. That's totally fvcking ridiculous if you ask me.

Also if you ask me, 1 month pay schedules are ridiculous. I interviewed with one company that did that and honestly it's not cool at all. I get paid twice a month which is perfect, but every month...? I just don't like the idea of working a month before seeing a nickle.

The good thing is I have some money saved up from the summer (I'm in college). But I do have a 1k credit card bill to start paying off, and my paycheck was going to my cc. Err.......

Yeah get a petty cash check cut or something, that is BS esp when you have to wait between pay cycles.

And another thing when your paycheck comes, make sure they don't tax you as if it's a weekly/biweekly check.

I was struggling for mine in this situation and got something like 50% of what I expected after taxes, Ins, SS and Medicare were taken out....I came up really short....

Yeah, before taxes. If they pay him one large lump sum, the Gov't will take his taxes out as if he gets paid that every week. Which could mean he gets bumped up to a higher tax bracket.

Ask for seperate checks for the pay you were supposed to receive this week and your next pay-day if you get into that situation.

My first job from school, the company did the same thing to me. They screwed up two payrolls so after one month I was still without money. The problem was that I had rent and other expenses expected from me. I went to my boss and they cut me a check that day.

It's twice a month, just the last pay day I wasn't in the "system" which meant she never put me in there at that time either. :| :disgust:

You are aware that this translates into: "The company is on the verge of collapse and we are happy to get another 2 free weeks out of your naive a$$"

I work in payroll. She is able to cut you a check, she is just choosing not to so she can avoid the work. I would press the issue, you'll get paid now if you do.

Obviously not. You didn't.

Whoa hold up - you're saying she screwed up the same way twice...? If she's done this twice, start looking for a new job, and I echo rudder's sentiment. If it's been once I'd be pissed, but twice that's not right.

Anyway they CAN give you money - get it!
