Ahhhhh accidently opened IE

Shawn

Lifer
It loaded up the MSN page and froze. I think on some stupid flash ad. Now it won't close and it's using 100% of my cpu. WTF? It won't even end task. I don't remember IE being this sh|tty.

I wouldn't say that...

-Windows updates
-Trendmicro.com's free online virus scan doesn't seem to work with FF
-When watching streaming video through a proxy (like on mlb.com, to get around blackout restrictions), using a different browser for it (like IE) allows me to continue using FF to surf without having to go through a (often high-ping) proxy

I agree with GURCK. I've had no problems with IE6 as long as it's been released. Update you Sheee-ITE & you'll do fine.

Most webpages are designed for IE6 so you're on your own with that Ebonics MOZILLA **LOL**

Oh man, once you fix the problem you better go take a scalding hot shower to make sure get the filth of IE off your body.

Well, I'm not saying I don't prefer Firefox - I do, and use it 99% of the time. However, IE does have its uses, and I haven't experienced it being as prone to spyware and hacker attacks as some people make it out to be - you still, for the most part, have to click "Yes" to an install applet. I like tabbed browsing, the extension system, the elegant simplicity, the fact that it's not tied into your OS, and the higher security of FireFox. For those who'll say IE is only more prone to holes because more hackers are looking for them - probably true - but it doesn't change the fact.

i deleted the ie shortcuts on my desktop, startmenu and quickstart so i wouldn't accidently open it, ff or opera for me, i use both and haven't decided which i like best yet...

Man, I had to use I.E. the other day to test a Web page. What a painful process after using Mozilla and Firefox for the past year+.

I really do feel that IE is based upon a more flawed security model than FF, and is more prone to security holes. That is not to say that if the situation were reversed and FF held >95% of the market it would not have more known holes than it does now, heck if that were the case IE would porbably have less known holes, but FF would probably have less security flaws than IE does now.

I don't have FF on here right now, but I do like it. I dunno though, if I want a quick loadup, I go with IE cuz FF takes a while, or it used to.

Once it's open it doesn't take any longer than IE to open a new window. And since I always have a browser window open it doesn't matter to me.

I use IE exclusively without a hitch all day, every day. Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

It's not a matter of what you're doing wrong, but, rather, what you could be doing better. 😉

FF takes about .001 seconds to open for me 😀 I  having sufficient system ram 😉 (hint: 512mb doesn't qualify)
