Ahhhh YES

I am sure I am asking for a flame fest, but I had to proclaim my joy.

I am sure Yanks fans will blame the Umps....well maybe.

The only thing I have to say, with a 205 million dollar payroll the Yanks should have never had to take it all the way to game five and then blame the Umps for a job the Yanks just didn't get done.

Could we be witnessing the end of a dynasty??

I am sure next year the payroll will go up once again could we see over 225 million???

I... am a Yankees fan. Many people either hate them or hate me for it, but I am not ashamed. They're not my #1 team, as I grew up in St. Louis listening to the Cardinals on the radio. But they are my #2, and for good reason.

Don Mattingly is my hero. That guy was just plain awesome. He played with the Yanks back when you didn't HAVE to hate them. He usually looked like he hadn't showered in months, and his mullet was divine.

That being said, what most people don't know is that Don Mattingly is still the batting coach, and until he retires, I'll continue to cheer on my Yanks.

So, obviously, it's a sad day for my Yankees, but I get to see my Cards in the WS (assuming they make it), for what will be their last game in Busch Stadium. I can't wait!

i understand all too well. your team is done. 200 mil+ and they haven't won a thing since 2000. i feel bad for torre and bernie williams, they deserved better.

PS: How's the curse of payrod goin? 😀

I still can't believe the Yankees couldn't pull it off against a non-Red Sox team. Once Jeter got that leadoff single in the 9th I was almost sure it was coming, luckily DP-Rod came up next.

What don't I understand??? please expain.

200+ million dollars should have bought them a championship, they barely beat out the RedSox to win the Division.

The dynasty ended 5 years ago when the Yanks beat my Mets in the Subway Series. They haven't won squat since.

This offseason may be big for the Yanks. They have Small, Chacon and Wang..do they stick them in the rotation?? They sure deserve to be there.. what to do with Pavano and Wright..both mega busts. Mussina is getting old, Randy is already old. They need a centerfielder, backup first baseman, Mariano is still awesome but wont be there forever..etc.

I think its time for a change in direction for the Yanks.

they can get out of kevin brown's contract (thankfully)
matsui is a free agent (will he sign and for how much?)
bernie's time is up (sad)

Why would the Yanks blame the umps? I didn't see any close calls go against the Yanks?

calling whats his name out for running out of the base path was a big one, it would have been bases loaded 2 out if he was called safe

What is the curse of payrod?

P.S. Remember when the Diamondbacks won the series? That was because I lived in Arizona at the time.

I have no idea what you are talking about, I'm not a baseball fan.

I saw this briefly on SportCenter this AM, and I could have sworn that first base was already occupied when this happened. I looked at the box score online and it looks like it was runners on first and second at the time. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Well, the Red Sox are no slouch in the spending department either... but yes, for what the Yanks are spending, they shouldn't be having a problem getting to the WS

You can buy a lot in baseball, but the Yanks just couldn't buy quality pitching. How much did they spend on Johnson and how long did he last?
