Have to miss my last day's exams today, cant go out to party tonight. Be looking all weird at the graduation parties and maybe itching myself a whole lot.

Anyone that's had it around 15 know how long it takes the scabs to go away after they all scab up?

I don't want to scare ya man, but the older you get, the worse the effects of chicken pox get. Unless they have some whoop ass drugs out now, I don't think you'll be over them in a week.

I knew a 40 year old guy who died from them :(.

Yeah just dont scratch them and have them open up or anything. Those scars take a long time to heal. If you're worried about it though, try putting some vitamin e oil on them. Heard that makes scars heal faster. Don't know for sure tho.

That really sucks tho. I thought you would've been sick in bed having it at that age. Didn't your parents ever try and get you chicken pox? Also there's a vaccine out now. Should've gotten that the second it came out. Oh well. Get better soon tho.

Hmm, there's an increased risk of fatal outcome with chicken pox the older you get.

But don't worry tho. You're still fairly young. I think.

HA! I got them about 2 1/2 years ago from some little s!hit at a birthday party for my girlfriend's cousin. I was 31 at the time. Never had them before, and never even thought about them.

Once they scab up, you have a week to three weeks more until you're better. If the itching gets to be too much, try Aveeno oatmeal bath. It WORKS!! I was about where you are now, and was ready to slit my wrists because the itching was so bad. Aveeno saved my life.

Like has been said, this stuff is dangerous when you get older. If you haven't had it get vaccinated, it could save your life. I think some people have natural immunity, but I wouldn't rely on that. The vaccine is from Japan as I remember.

I had a mild case as a kid. I still remember how nasty it was. No scars thankfully. I believe there is a vaccine these days.

Good Luck

The vaccine doesn't work 100%. I got the shot about 3 years ago.
I asked the doctor then if I should need a boost. She said, because
it's still in the early stage, they don't know how long it'll last.
So, about 3 months ago, I went to my university's hospital and checked
whether I need another boost. The only way they know if I need a boost
is by drawing my blood. The darn nurse missed my vein 4 times, until she
gave up and called another nurse. He made a hole out of me just to draw the blood.
Anyway, my blood work came out negative, as if I never got the shot.
So, I had to get 2 more vaccine shot. I hope this time I am immune to chicken pox.
Just to let you know, they injected live virus, so there is a chance
you'll get the chicken pox from the vaccine although a small ome.
If you are not 100% healthy the chance of you getting it becomes even higher.

I found that it didn't seem to last long either, until the last time I stayed in the bath for an hour. That seemed to do the trick. Don't get out after 15 minutes like the instructions say.

Yeah, the creams are pretty useless.

Yep, there is a vaccine, but be careful, it requires a booster every ten years and it's not 100% effective. Also, it's a live virus vaccine, and can give you a mild to severe case of the pox depending on your immune response.
