Damn I hate this part of the job....all I can think to myself while I'm in a meeting is "Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings, they did it by kiling all those who opposed them." Not sure who said that originally but more true words have never been spoken.

Don't go.

I just received a meeting notice 7 minutes before the meeting. Fortunately the meeting only lasted 2 minutes.

Wish I could skip it....sadly these days I'm slowing losing my techie type job and being pushed into a management role. I've been resisting but they finally made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I still get to do the tech type stuff every now and then, especially if it's an important high profile project, but I spend most of my time doing the whole management thing. Eh.....onward and upward I suppose.

Same here, since I finshed my main project over a year ago they have wanted me to quit developing and start managing.

Have someone page or call you halfway through with an "imporant" message. Then you have an excuse to split.

Use your skilz to divert the conversation to politics, especially NK and Iraq. When they really get going, accuse them of neffing. When they scratch their heads, roll your eyes :p

Dude, that seriously suks. I remember way back when, I was doing some consulting. Sometimes meetings ran all day, and no one seemed to know how to end them. Like the Twilight Zone.

I work for an I.T. infrastructure/consulting firm. I've been onsite with one of our customers since 1997. It's a 3000+ seat environment, 117 NT/2000 servers(a few linux, 8 RS6000, & 2 OS/2 servers) countless users, multiple MULTIPLE WAN sites, etc, etc, etc....it's a big big operation. We have our people here broken up into a helpdesk/desktop team, a network engineering team, and a server/open systems team. The fun part is that the client is currently in the middle of a 150 million expansion project, new buildings, etc? and we are in the middle of migrating from the NT domain to a 2000 AD domain. Fun, fun, fun?.. I'm pretty much running the show on the server side here these days......

Working for the government, I have to attend at least one 3+ hour meeting a week. It's so inefficient...

[edit]
And unfortunately, I have nobody I can delegate to attend these bore fests!

Woo hoo!!! Got out of it early.....gotta love it when the person who scheduled the meeting has to leave because their kid missed the bus and needs a ride home.
