I'm putting together a rig for my friend... so far here are the parts...

-Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz Pinless Socket T LGA 775 Processor
-Motherboard
-Memory
-Harddrive
-Harddrive2
-Video Card

My last concern is the PSU. I need a QUALITY PSU that is RELIABLE, HAS ENOUGH POWER (including both watts and amperage), AND IS NAME BRAND. IT MUST BE ABLE TO HANDLE ALL THIS HARDWARE 🙂

Off the top of my head i could name off a few quality name brands.. maybe forton and/or sparkle?? but honestly when it come's to PSU's i just don't kno where to start....

I need you guys to help me pick out the PSU to finish puttin this rig together

yeah i just wanna mention that the 7800gt alone requires a minimum of 400w with atleast 26amps on the 12v rail...

so just keeping that in mind should help out a bit....

The 7800GT doses not require 26 amps or a 400 watt PSU. This is simply nvidia trying to cover for all the idiots out there running a 400 watt generic PSUs that were never ment to output 400 watts in the first place.

The bottom line is a good 350 watt PSU will handle that system with power to spare.

But to be honest at the same time I want a psu that's atleast 400+ watt and at the same time one of good quality...

Something that could compare to that good 350watt but with more wattage... just for the hell of it kinda... and just for overall performance

Well if you really want a 400+ PSU the Seasonic S12 430 gets my vote. It's not required though, the 380 watt version I linked above would work fine.

okay.. i'm lovin the feedback from you guys thanks a lot... but to be 100% honest... i wanna mention something... I built my computer about 7, 8 monthes ago and the specs are listeded in my signature... along with those specs, i am running 2 80 gb hd's, one being an IDE and the other a SATA. I also have 4 cathodes, about 16 fans total (i kno its retarded lol), a fan controller, and a temp gauge display (and another temp gauge thats built into the case). All that is powered by my Aspire 500W found here.

If anyone was to ask me about powersupplies i would instantly say that the aspire psu is trash and i wouldn't recommend it. The only reason i ended up using this psu on my pc is because it came with my case and at the same time it has 34A on the +12v rail. To be 100% honest, the psu have been running like a dream with my build so far and it measures within specs as i've tested it with various programs.

Although this isn't a psu i would recommend, AGAIN i must say it runs my pc flawlessly. Now to get to my real point...

Do you guys think this PSU here should be a good psu to consider. Talking from experience i wouldn't really have a reason to say no... but i'm about this close to buying this psu for my friend's build lol.. and DEFF not because it says 600w so just keeping that in mind...

Also what is the difference between dual rail and single rail... does it really matter?

The numbers on that psu look pretty good, but I have no experience with that manufacturer so I cannot comment on the quality of the unit.

The dual rail thing is an Intel recomended spec. I think it has more to do with safety than it does hardware specs.
