AHHH Windows Files and Transfer settings wizard

Hello, so I just reformatted my machine and used windows files and settings transfer wizard. So windows compiled about 8gb of backup stuff. I burned them onto 2 dvds and after I reformatted I copied them onto the desktop. When I run files and settings wizards on this new format, the wizard won't use the files! I really need some of this stuff, esp my mp3's (They're trapped on my ipod!). Is there anyway to get this data? They are in 5 DAT files. Thanks
