It seems to be called EZSEARCHBAR and adaware seems to have removed most of the components... unfortunatly I'm still getting stupid "get all the girls you want" popups and this IE bar.

Can't figure out how to get rid of it.

update: IE versus opera. Damn spyware

update: haha. mofos. Problem solved. Cutting straight to the chase, any of those little browser add-ons that start when you open IE can apparently be disabled. They're called "Browser Help Objects" BHO for short, and using BHO demon is the way to circumvent them. *phew*

Can you uninstall it from Add/Remove programs? Try running Ad-aware after rebooting. Maybe it has problems deleting the executable. EZSearchBar is listed as one of the pieces of spyware that Ad-aware can remove.

you need to purge out all of the files in your temporoary nternet folders
Running adaware doesnt cut it on this one yet.

It is a cookie/file install based app.
Had a guy at work with this issue as well

I completely removed all temp internet files, disable active x controls, ran spybot, adaware, and a host of other proggies and can't get rid of the beast. And no, it doesn't register as an add/remove component.

*irk* just wrote a nice letter to the contact person @ exsearch. Hope they die.

Worst part is not only does it add that nasty bar, it searchs through site text and links words to its advertisers sites. That and it's completely unstable. Half the time explorer crashes. I hate them so much.

*GRRRR*
