Lost my CompUSA Maxtor hard drive today. I don't care about the drive but it's going to take me forever to get my music videos,mp3 and movies back.

I can't afford to do backup. Can't backup 80GB of data on CD. I could but that's going to take forever. Don't want to do raid 1, that's a waste of space.

But better backup next time.

It always takes a tragedy to start thinking of a good backup strategy :(

I have somewhere in the range of 80-100GB backed up on cdr. It's not that hard, you just don't wait til you're over your head...

ok, so i don't really have 80GB of stuff. If you look at my rig, i have like 280GB. If I have to do a backup, I have to backup like 220GB of data files.

:(

Wish there's a cheap and fast way to backup.

I thought that RAID is considered common knowledge? ;)

That would be around 400 CDrs...u can get them for around 100 dollars....im sure that is not expensive..compared to the zillion hrs u put in to back the stuff up...if there is a cheap data recovery service...maybe u should get one done....make it a habit to burn a cd everytime u download 700MB of stuff....

Yep, thats what I got in my file server here at home. Dual 80 giggers. Im lazy as a mofo when it comes to backups. Its only a waste of space until one drives fails and you are spared from spending countless hours DLing everything again.

Ok, so cd's are cheap but look at the man hour i have to put in. 4.5 minutes for a cd at 24X for 400 cd. hmm
