Ahhh.. It feels good to work on my Turbo Regal!

After letting it sit for over 6 months since it got broken into, I've gotten lazy driving my '92 Cadillac Eldorado...

I wrenched quite a bit today..

My seat track (left side on driver's seat) broke in the front, it was weakened by rust. (Stupid leaking T-Tops) Both of the Turbo Regals I have owned have had this happen. I pulled the seat out, pulled off the offending track and fixed it.

I ground the metal clean, welded the broken piece to the track, and put a reinforcement plate on the bottom. Covered it with 2 coats of primer, and 2 coat of black paint - looks good!

Took the opportunity to spray liberal amounts of lithium grease on the tracks, the seat slides back and forward with ease now.

I was eyeing the a 200 amp alternator upgrade kit that's been rattling around in my trunk for over a year.. And decided to tackle that too. A couple hours later, that was done too.

I fired it up, looked at my volt gauge (Old 2 1/4 VDO out of a VW, pictured here: http://ihadav8.com/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=193 ), and it showed 11v.

Then I remembered (I had a dee dee dee moment), and forgot to plug in the exciter wire. Plugged that in - got a solid 14.0 at the battery, 14.5 at the alternator.

It was nice to drive it home without the seat bending back, next weekend, the replacement steering column goes in, and maybe the vacuum brake setup I have..

Just wanted to pat myself on the bacl. 😀

You're going to make me want to finish putting the wrong engine in my 82 BMW, stop it. (A newer engine, different block, same size)

But yeah, it's always a nice feeling to do something on your car and be able to drive it around happily after. I loved that feeling from working on my little bimmer. (It's bimmer, not beamer, beamers are bikes) Change this or that then take it for a spin around the block and admire your handywork.

Got some more pics of that Regal?

Yup.. a few less HP stock, but the bang for the buck potential is huge.

Went to go to my parents to watch the Buc's gaem, pulled off the T-Tops, got ready to go, and the friggin alternator wasn;t charging... Turned it off, and back on, bow it's charging. Don't know if I like that..

Hahahah, almost every car with T-Tops I have ever seen has at least a small leak, the only one that does not have a leak is my brother's 2001 Trans-Am.

LOL..

I had a crazy Pinto once.. Bored out 4cyl, Offenhauser intake, Holley 380cfm, Manley valvetrain, adj cam gear, headers..

Rumbles like a V8, and was a lot of fun. Too bad the body rusted out around the drivetrain. 🙁

That's my license plate: "IHADAV8".. 😀
