Ok, my aunt from Spain is coming into town this weekend, so of course she JUST NOW tells me she wants a digital camera, doesn't want to spend more than $200, but wants it to have good OPTICAL zoom and of course, "look nice"

Any ideas????

Why would she want good digital zoom? Digital zoom is completely useless...

How about the Canon A60? You can probably get it for $200 w/ one of the deals...

"Digital zoom" is important? If $200 is an absolute ceiling I like the Fuji 2650. It's an easy-to-use 2MP point and shoot that has decent features and very good picture quality for the price.

Get the Canon A60 if you can find it for $200 after coupon.

Otherwise a good alternative is go to OfficeMax.com search for the Fuji A205 (2MP, 3x optical zoom, xD media, USB, PC/Mac friendly and uses only 2 AA's) for $150 - $30 off $150 coupon = $120

Make sure to get her some good rechargeable batteries as well. Sam's Club and CostCo stores have excellent deals on Panasonic rechargeable kits with charger and batteries.

Newegg has the A60 for $189.

Then that's what I would buy.

Canon uses CF media vs Fuji's xD.

This is true.... My Finepix 2800 will be stuck with 256mb SM's forever....

I would prefer SM over xD.

I have always loved Fuji digicams, some of the best value digicams out there.

I still use my first digicam (Fuji Finepix 1400) yes it's only 1.3MP but it takes great pics, uses SM and accepts AA's.

xD is vastly superior to SM in every way. In fact, it's superior to CF in most ways as well.
The only problem with xD right now is price, and that has been dropping ever since it was introduced.

keep in mind the batteries and charger that may be needed, as well as a more usable flash card....

This can push on another $100 easy to the camera.

I have a A50 for sale, it has 2.5x optical zoom, looks nice, is small....it comes with two batteries, the chargers, all boxes and manuals, plus a how to book. It's 1.3MP

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/A50/A50A.HTM

$150 + shipping I am asking.

I just picked up a A70 for $265....the batteries and charger was $70, and I still want a bigger CF card (comes with an 8MB I think or a 16MB)....so another $50-75 (256MB).

The A60 would need the same extras so you are looking at about $300+ out the door. It's definitely worth it. If I found a nice used A60 I would have gotten it instead.

Bah, I'd sell you my A60, but I'm not quite ready to reaplace it yet. But if you can find the A60 within your price range, get it, I was thoughouly impressed by mine.

How about an older Olympus C-7** Ultra Zoom models, with 8-10x zoom?
