sigh. My wife made me go to the doctor because of my snoring. The doctor looked up my nose and was shocked. the sinus passage is supposed to be straight (haven't been able to breath out my nose for years). but mine is has a major bend in it. he says it looks like a bad L in there. he asked if i ever broke my nose. i said yeah twice. he stuck something up and said it looks like i broke it at least 5 times! ahh!

So he has to go in and shave parts of both nostrils! eww.

Not only that but he has to take out my tonsils! he said they were huge and he was worried that if i got real sick they might block air passage. they are rather large and nasty.

I'm getting this done early march =( boo!

EDIT:
OK I'm out of the hospital. they had to pull bone and pulibs out of my nose. darn thing is still bleeding.

I also had my tonsils out. my throat hurts and i cant eat. I have to try to drink 2 quarts of water/juice a day. I also am to try to eat stuff like ice cream, etc

anyway I'm on Tylenol 3 liquid for pain!

Wow, that sucks.

I have a lot of the same breathing problems, though I've never really snored much oddly enough.

I had my tonsils out when I was like 13-14, and not to scare you or anything, but it really sucked. When they say you can eat all the Ice Cream you want, take it with a grain of salt, because, for me at least, even water hurt like hell the first couple of days. After that point eating was still really hard and I lost a bunch of weight and got really sick. Just try to take care of yourself the best you can, and try to avoid getting addicted to the Tylenol + Codiene they usually prescribe for it (even though it's really nice, the withdrawls will suck)

And whatever you do, don't eat a banana! I thought it would be easy since it was all soft and not acidic or anything, but there is something in there that just burns like hell.

Good luck, it should all go okay, it's a pretty simple procedure, you just need to take care of yourself afterwords.

My son had his tonsils out last year and I was amazed how quick they do it now. I had it done when I was about 7 too, which was 25 years ago :Q and I was in the hospital for a couple of days, got ice cream and jello and my parents brought me new hot wheels every time they came in to see me. I remember it being horrible. My son's surgery was done in 5 minutes!!!!!!!!! They now have this little wire lasso that they wrap around the tonsils and pull it tight and it heats up and burns it right off (cauterized). Its awesome, we were home within 4 hours. And most of that time was just waiting in the recovery room. The only thing to look out for is the amazing amount of blood that will pour out of your mouth after your scabs slough off after two-three days. That was scary seeing so much blood pour out of my sons mouth. Dont swallow it Waggy:D

How old are you? Getting tonsils out at a later age is more risky and you have much longer recoup times.

I had my tonsils out a couple years back...no fun. The two weeks thing is pretty accurate. I got medical clearance exactly two weeks after mine were taken out and that night I went and played a basketball game...which was not fun. I was a HS Senior at the time (I started varsity basketball for 3 years). Lost about 20 pounds and I was as weak as a kitten trying to run up & down the court.

this is a good thing.. I work in a sleep lab and we often get people with messed up sinuses... oncw it's all healed, your snoring shoul be a lot less (hopefully gone) and your sleep will be better

Ouch. That sounds like it's gonna hurt for a little while.

I don't remember too fondly getting my tonsils out 40 years ago.

Sounds like you needed it, though.

Speedy recovery.
