While looking for a parking space at walmart (don't knock it. only store in town!) a cart from where they hold them before they take them into the store came loose and hit my car!

I now have a scratch in the front of my car.

I contacted walmart and the assistant manager pretty much nothing they can do. He wouldn't even give me his managers name or number!

I am so upset! anyone got any ideas on what i can do?

pic! just ignore the dirt heh. i need to take my car in to get cleaned. oh and there is ice on it. tried to clean it with a damp cloth heh.

i had more pics but they were blurry. will try to take more latter.

Edit: Monty the assistant manager from walmart just called to b!tch me out because he got a call from coprate! He called me a lier because the paper he got said something slightly diffrent then what i told him. He said he is going to write a letter to the insurance stateing that i lied and shouldnt get paid. i said fine then i will file a small claim court. he said fine he will find the cart that hit my car and sue me for damages of the cart!

update 2: heh called corprate and complained. They are going to call him and get back to me. they were NOT happy he called me or threatned me.

they arent responsible for shopping carts that are left in the parking lot.

this cart was from where they hold them before they take them in to be used (only so much space in the store for it) on the side of the store. so they should fix it.

doubt they will though ahhh!

actually that's wrong. those signs have no legal bearing. they are just there so they can scare people into not making a big deal out of it and leave. anyways, from that pic it doesn't look like it went all the way down to the metal. i was able to nearly buff out a 3cm x ~2mm scratch (down to the metal) on my dad's expedition, totally my fault (was moving stuff) but it now isn't too noticeable.

yeah but i think the taurus has plastic bumpers. maybe fiberglass.

anyway i had a scratch like this on my rear bumper that cost me $500 to fix. suspect this will be the same.

I suggest getting an estimate and then doing an equal amount of damage to that particular Wal-Mart......that or randomly stock the magazines and DVDs with midget pr0n you smuggle into the store. :D

You might want to contact a few detailers and see if they can buff it out, then if it's successful try sending the bill, if it's not to high they may go ahead and pay it without much fight.

i have the time to harrass walmart. though i doubt they will do anything about it.

a scratch dont bother me. but if i can get them to fix it then great. if not then i will cuss them out and maybe smuggle in some midget porn like fausto suggested!

Not true. One ran into my Mustang and Walmart paid the money to have it fixed. I took pictures of it and so did the manager. They didn't have enough people bringing the cars in and they littered the parking lot. I purposely parked at the very end of the lot, but I was still dented by one. I received my check in less than 14 days.

The manager took pictures of it.

He also said that they only had 2 people getting carts. this is a super walmart! its huge. no way can 2 people keep up on carts!

Yeah I was gonna say that it's a ford taurus. I've got a 2000 taurus se, which is white as well (which is a PITA to keep clean).

If i had known that the white was so hard to keep clean i would have waited for a diffrent color. Other then that its been a good car to have. I wanted a SHO but heard a lot of bad things about them.

Wal-Mart is liable. Contact your auto insurance agent.

It could be worse ... my wife's car was rear-ended by a Wal-Mart forklift while she and the kid were inside. They paid for all of the repairs and my wife got a rental but I am not happy with her driving around in damaged goods. They should also reimberse you for loss of value as well!

We had a hella windy day here a few weeks ago. I saw a cart getting blown across the lot ... I would've tried to catch it, but had my kids in tow. Anywayitwas really criuising and smacked a car hard in the door. Left a helluva dent. Was glad I had parked downwind of one of those islands.

If the cart came loose from one of those "shopping cart holders" Walmart has set up, then Walmart is responsible for the damage. If it was a loose cart someone left out to roll around the parking lot, I don't believe they would be liable.

Sorry to hear, hope you sort things out.

it was from neither.

when they claim the carts from the "cart holders" and the parking lot they take them up to the building to hold them until needed in the store. there is NOTHING around them to keep them from running away.

it came from there.

actually 2 of them did. one hit my car and onother hit a old ladies caddie in the handicap parking.

Yeah a gen3 SHO would be great. There's a sweet-looking black gen3 SHO at the local auto shop here that's for sale. I'd be all over it, but it has 71,000 miles and the V8 engines in the gen3 SHOs are known to have their cams slip and cause serious damage at around 70,000-100,000 miles.
