During my current Athlon 64 project, I have litterally hit the wall. I want good overclock capabilities, but I have already purchased a ASUS K8V D SE. I heard that the VIA chipset is basically no good with overclocking due to it increasing the speed over EVERYTHING on the entire board. I noticed that a few Giabyte mobos have seperate pci/agp features with the NForce3 250 chipset that make it a great overclocker. What do you guys think I should do? Anyone have any input or experiences? Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the Forums AmeenR :) I have the K8V Deluxe, with a 3000+. You might try your K8V Deluxe SE with a modest overclock and see if it performs like you want. If not, or if you are just overclocking for the sport of it, then an nF3 250/250Gb board is probably what you'll want. Check the first couple pages of threads for some real-world feedback on the Gigabyte and Chaintech nF3 250 boards. Will you get your $100 worth out of the new board? That's for you to decide :D

Thanks! I know how good the ASUS is and trust that it will be a good board, but I was just seeking out some info regarding the K8V D SE and its capabilities overclocking-wise. Is its VIA chipset any good?

For overclocking? Not as good as nF3 250, it doesn't sound like. I don't overclock mine, it's an office system, but I'm still strongly considering an upgrade to an Asus K8N-E Deluxe at some point (the K8N-E Deluxe is not quite available yet, maybe towards the end of the month). I have my own reason for wanting the upgrade, that has nothing to do with overclocking. :)
