Everyone says MSI K7T Turbo but it isn't on pricewatch and I can't find it on a US vendor site. Others say the EPoX. I havn't kept up with AMD (or anything, for that matter) for about 7 months, so it would be nice if someone could tell me the difference between KT133 and KT133a, and which boards I should get. All these different reviews don't help..they are think the board they are reviewing is the best! Please help..

if i were you, i will wait for the MSI Turbo.

for the Asus A7V, you have to oc thru a dip switch and if you are not oc'er, you can get the Asus, i personally hate oc thru dip switch.

for the Abit KT7A, it is a bit over priced and the high point Raid is not as good as the Promise Raid. I prefer promise controller over HighPoint.

For the Epox, it is cheap and it is my second choice after MSI Turbo

those are my 2 cents

Actually overclocking is very important. I'm adding another computer to my LAN setup here for CS and I have ordered an Addtronics 6890A case, 256MB PC133, everything needed for the setup but the motherboard/cpu/cpu-fan. I was thinking MSI K7T Turbo/ASUS A7V133 and a Duron 700-900 (someone convince me a 700 Duron will do 1Ghz easily..with multiplier unlocked of course, 133FSB for 933MHz then up the fSB to 1GHz)and a Alpha PAL6035 or GlobalWin FOP38.

i personally prefer Alpha over FOP38 since the alpha has copper embedded heatsink and it is easier to install than the FOPs

I think D-700 will get to 1gig if you are lucky...

good luck

You are on the right track to stick with the MSI board. Oc'ing through the bios is soooo much nicer than using dipswitches. The Duron 700 could very well hit 1.0+ GHz. If you want a guarantee that it will, scan the For Sale/Trade section for Bonkers325 or Compuwiz1. They are both selling tested procs that they guarantee to hit certain marks. I just picked up 2 P3 700 that Bonkers guaranteed to hit 1022 each. I also picked up the Alphas from him as well. The pricing is good and the speed is already there as well. Both sellers are stocked with T-Birds, Durons, and P3 procs. (At least they were last I checked)

Good luck and happy oc'ing :)

From what I've read, the A7V133 has a good selection of FSB speeds through the bios.

edit: The best price I've seen for this board is in the For Sale\Trade forum.

And even better, with the Asus if you screw your OC up, you don't have to mess around with the CCMOS jumper like on the KT7A. The Asus board will reset itself and come up on it's own. (Of course on the other hand it tends to do that anyway with the cold boot/voltage issue sometimes).
