Ahh!! What do I need? Wiper blades or wiper inserts?

Okay, my windshield wipers do nothing but create streaks on the glass when I use them.

What do I need to get to make my windshield all pretty again? Blades or inserts? What's the difference?

try cleaning them out with some windex on a paper towel. you have no idea how much gunk gets in those things.

Inserts are just the rubber part that contacts the windscreen.

If the cleaning doesn't work get new blades, not inserts. The inserts are not a complete new blade, just the rubber part. The inserts are a pain in the keester to install sometimes and aren't much cheaper.

I thought they are called refills (squeegees).

I just replaced my wiper blade refills after 3 years, damn, they made day and night difference.

Just measure the length of the ones on your car and get new blades. Most just snap off/on. There are two main types of latching mechanisms. Both are pretty easy to operate.

Refills come in at least 3 different widths, and getting the right one the first time is rare.

Just go to an auto parts store and ask them to help you. Most auto parts stores (Advance, Autozone and Pepboys at least) replace them for free.

It's one of those things that once you see how it is done, you say "Doh!"

i always buy the whole wiper blade, its so much easier to change than just the rubber insert thingy

yeah, its twice the price, but its worth the reduced hassle

On most of the inserts that I have changed all you have to do is squeeze the tabs and pull the insert out. To put the new one in you just feed it through the guides until it snaps in. Easier then dealing with the clamp for the entire assembly sometimes.

they are so cheap that i just replace the whole blade. Usually every 6 months or so.
