Well, I just put on the NV Silencer 5 on my new BFG 6800GTOC. I don't know if I should have left it alone or not. The stock fan was not that loud. The temperature has gone down from 60-61 idle to 57-60 idle. So not much improvement there. The load time dropped to about 67-69 which is alright? Anyway, is it a good thing that I voided that seemingly wonderful lifetime warrantee?

From the reviews I read, the idle temps aren't much different, but the load temps are 10 or 15 degress cooler.

It should extend the life of your card. I put an ATI Silencer 4 on my X800 Pro and it makes a huge difference (it's less on the GF 6's because stock cooling is better). I went from 75C load (in ATItool - games were peaking at about 60C) to 60C (games now peak at about 40-45C).

The silencers make a big difference in case temperature too - there's a lot of extra heat floating around the case with that furnace of a GPU.
