Nothing!!! Now I have this goddamn free hsf on my CPU that I don't need, I've never removed an hsf from a CPU before, so I don't wanna break anything. Any tips on how to remove it? I've got an XP-90 and a Panaflo for it on the way...

Removing a HSF is nothing. It takes like 2 minutes. Unscrew it (if it's a screw down type) or unclip it if it's not. If you have installed HSFs before, you can remove them too.

Damn them! How dare they give you a free HSF?!

Unlatch/screw/clip/whatever it, then just pull the heatsink off the CPU (gently!), then clean the CPU with rubbing alcohol. If they used a thermal pad, you may need to twist a bit to get it to come off. Heating it up by turning on the computer may help loosen it a bit.

Agreed. The key is to move slowly and triple check everything. When in doubt apply any needed force carefully.

Actually I was asking for help. Never removed a heat sink before, so I wanted to be sure on how to do it.

use a flat head screwdriver-a phillips WILL NOT WORK!!!! Thanks to Matthias for telling me that the other day🙂
