So, I was being half-asleep this morning and insert the wrong key to the ignition. Now, I can't get it to come out. It's about 1/3 or 1/2 way in and it feel like something is holding onto the key. Is there any tricks on getting it out? I need the key for work, and I'd rather not call the locksmith yet.

Unfortunately, there's not much more you can do but jiggle it around, maybe squirt some lubricant in there, and pull.

Take a needlenose pliars, and get it on the key, as close to the ignition as possible. Grip the key, and rock the pliars, to put a pulling effect on the key. I had someone do this to a car of mine one time, and that worked.

Lean on the steering wheel if the wheel is locked. Jiggle the key. If check into what you use before you use it. (the lube)

Pull it out. 50/50 chance its going to pop out of there or your going to have to end up calling a locksmith who is just going to grab his plyers and pull on it anyway. Leaving you yet again in the same spot so you may as well just try, I dont think its going to matter if you pull or the locksmith pulls. If it fvcks up coming out of there the same damage will be done but if it comes out clean then you didnt waste your money calling him without trying first.

I sprayed some silicone lubraint and tried pulling using a large plier. It still won't budget. The key feels loose, but when I try to pull it out, it feel like something inside is holding it.

Pliars right up next to the ignition is the key, rocking, and giving you leverage at the same time, like a fulcrum.

One of the pins in your ignition has seated against the key. That happened to me about three times before. The third time, I pulled it so hard the key broke off.

Ignitions can do that when they get old. If it doesn't come out by pulling, you will need a locksmith.
