In the last few days.. my computer has encountered in major problems. It randomly restarts on its on. I get no errors because it just restarts like pressing the reset button. I am in Safe-Mode Network right now and it has never done it to me here. I have no idea what is causing this and can't find a solution on the internet. I have Windows XP Professional.

It all started after I chose some options in MSCONFIG to not start at windows startup.. then after next restart.. It gave me the window where you check if you don't want it notifying you of changes to your startup menu or whatever. If I click OK, it would restart my computer. I got rid of that through deleting the startup registry string for it. Now it just restarts randomly and don't know what it is.

BTW.. I think if I was on Windows 2000 and below, I would be getting a blue screen error because I get savedump.exe after it happens on the next reboot.

I have tried all kinds of scanners.

Check out Restore point. It should be doing them already. Pick a date before your problem started...

Good luck

Does it give you a 30 second countdown timer, and then restart?

Are you directly connected to the internet, without a router or firewall between you and the internet?

Do you have every single Microsoft critical update on your computer?

The fact that this doesn't happen in Safe Mode (which doesn't have networking enabled) suggests that your computer may be being exploited into rebooting, and your Windows machine isn't fully patched.

Sounds like you have some sort of hijack/malware/virus/trojan etc. Many out there.
If you can can, download latest critical windows patches Latest released 7/2/04
Get these free progs, spybot, adaware, spywareblaster, a2, hijackthis, winpatrol and your favorite virus prog.
Install and run them. Follow each directions. Winpatrol is good to alert you to hidden background changes. After you have backed up all your data you may have to turn off system restore to completely remove some problems.
I'm sure you'll find something.

To get BSODs instead of autoreboot:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/russel_02may13.mspx
1.Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2.Click the Advanced tab.

3.Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

4.Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

5.Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

It's always worth running memtest86 when you're pulling your hair out over random crashes to see if it's a hardware problem.
