I have 2 Seagate 320gb 7200.10 sata II drives on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 ver 02. I have them attached to the Intel controller and are currently running w/IDE. I've seen several discussions on the net where one could convert to AHCI mode wo/ reloading xp. Does anyone have any experience with this procedure? The basic procedure is to move the HD to the JMicron controller, load drivers on Intel and then switching back.
Also, on the DS3 MB, it seems to me that in the bios (F10) on the Integrated peripherals screen, the first two SATA settings (ports 0-3) are reflective of the Intel controller and the next set of sata parameters are gigabyte (JMicron). Is this correct?
It would have bee great to ask these questions just before my first build/install, but I'm just getting smart enough to know the questions to ask.
