AHCI on a Gigabyte Mobo

I see two options in the bios:

PCH SATA CONTROL MODE: IDE, RAID, AHCI

GSATA CONTROL MODE: IDE, AHCI

I don't know which one(s) do what and which one sI should enable for AHCI mode for my new SSD?

Wikipedia can tell you what they are.

Generally, and especially if you're installing Windows fresh, you should set the relevant controller to AHCI. Use RAID for, well, RAID, and IDE only for firmware updates, diagnostics, and old OSes.

Cerb has got it right. You should use AHCI if you're not running a RAID setup, and then go to IDE mode only when troubleshooting, etc.

I'll be transferring my OS.

This will also enable hot swapping correct? Do I need to set these settings to anything specific, or any BIOS options for hot swaps?

Enable Write Caching - Yes/No

Turn off Windows Write-Cache Buffer Flushing - Yes/No

Hopefully these settings won't be detrimental to the SSD as I know it is best to limit the writes is performs.

ACHI enables support for hot swapping. Actual success of hot swapping is case by case. In my experience, put the computer to sleep before doing so and be very careful not to short something.

Enable Write Caching - Yes
Turn Off - No

Limiting writes it performs... ignore it. Old information. You'll be fine.
