He just got his license back after getting it taken away for reckless....

Today was the first day he was back driving again...

He was driving and we were talking oer the phone when he told me that he was passing through a police checkpoint.

He called me again to tell me that he got a ticketfor not wearing his seatbelt.

Moron. I have no sympathy for drivers that do 2 things: not wear seatbelts and drive drunk.

I'm pretty much an "anything goes" kinda guy, but those 2 things along w/ abusing women or kids are things that I cannot tolerate.

Honestly, if you pass me and you are not wearing a seatbelt... I dont give a dry fart... As long as you are not going to hurt me as well (as a drunk driver could) I dont care.

If the other person was driving out of control (having an accident), the seatbelt would hold them in place behind the steering wheel allowing them greater control over the vehicle. The difference may keep them from slamming into the side of your car where your 16 month old baby is riding.

99.9999% of driver's are probably to busy thinking "OH S*IT...my car's out of control, or OH S*IT I just cracked some ribs, or OH S*IT, that giant AIRBAG just pounded me in the face and I can't see S*IT."

One of the most ridiculous laws in the United States is the seatbelt law. Who gives a flying f*ck if some jagoff wants to put his own life in danger because he's too "cool" to wear his seatbelt. Not wearing a seatbelt is pure stupidity but it isn't the government's job to tell us that we must wear it.

It's like making a law stating that everyone has to use one of the paper protection things around the toilet when you take a dump because it reduces your risk of getting a nasty disease and dying...and possibly passing it on to other people. You'd be an idiot for not using one but I'd rather not have random "stall checks" where cops barge in to check if you've got that piece of paper between your ass and the pisser.
