Threats that waste government resources and time do deserve jailtime. It prevents them from working real cases and ties up the system.

I don't think the guy needs 10 years behind bars, but 6 months, a stiff fine, and some embarrassment would do him some harm.

People wasting the resources of the government cost taxpayers money, and it leaves them with less focus and ability to handle real issues.

It wasn't clear from the news piece, where was the threat posted? If I challenge sonambulo to creating the scariest threat in this thread, and we both respond here (or in a thread titled "Answer to SarcasticDwarf's challenge"), then I don't see why he would even be arrested.

Yeah, I actually heard about this from facebook when some people started joining a Jake Brahm Wauwatosa East High School Alumni group. They posted a link to the wikipedia entry about it. It's got a screenshot of the threat there, too.
