Ah now I know why I like the Jews so much...

i've always felt like chinese and jewish people were just... i dunno... similar.... i dunno why. but i have just always had that feeling... perhaps it is because both groups emphasize education and financial success and because both groups have very strong communities in the US.

and now i hear about this new documentary, "shanghai ghetto".... so apparently during world war 2, a bunch of jewish people moved to shanghai and started their own community there. apparently the chinese and the shanghai jews got along very well and there is this history of friendship or something. this was all new and very fascinating to me... but i'm glad i finally have a half-answer for why i like jews

when i used to valet park... the ppl's cars which i hated to park the most were chinese and jewish... they were equally bad tippers. surprisingly, the best tippers were not the ppl whi drove new bimmers or mb's or porsches.... the best tippers were young ppl (like early 20s) who drove like a 1990 camry. what does this have to do with the topic? i dunno....

i don't trust the media anyways. i mean, you don't know that israel treats palestineans badly... that's just what you've heard from the media and other people. i can't be sure until i see it first hand. anyways, this all really has nothing to do with my post.

I know Jewish people who are laid back, nice, assholes, cheep, forgiving, giving, plesant to be around, egotists, not pleasant, ect. Hmmmm.... by stating someones religion you know thier personality. This thread contains numerous generalizations. Many of those could be taken the wrong way.

For example wouldn't it be more accurate to say, Gopunk, that for some inexplicable reason you identify with Jewish culture and finding that there was a Jewish community in Shanghai is interesting to you. That you will investigate it in order to discover why you identify with the culture.

I'm sure there are Jews you like and dislike, as there are Chinese you like and dislike.

The "jews control the media" line is so old and tired as to be cliche and laughable. Pull your head out of your @$$ and take a breath.

Best Line Ive heard all day and, Unfortunately, true. Dont know what happens to some people when they move here. I doubt that they were that way their whole lives but I could be wrong.

I'm actually hoping they'll explain themselves so we can all see exactly how moronic they are.

But I doubt that will happen since people with views like that generally have no idea why they have them.

i agree that the generalizations are inaccurate. the jewish population in america is such a diverse group of people that it's hard to make any generalizations..even when you break it down to orthodox, hasidic, reform, liberal, non-practicing, whatever, my experience is that people are just really different.

as for the whole jews controlling the media, a more accurate statement would be "corporate interests controlling the media"....media organizations are run like any other corporate entity in this country. they are beholden to shareholders, and the largest shareholders tend to have the controlling interest...
