When I came home from exams just a while ago, my bedroom greeted me with the smell of burning silicon. 🙁 First thing I checked was the exhaust from my computer. Yep, that's the source! So I check the blue LEDs I just put in last night, no go, they're cool. I check the hardware, no go, it all works. I've deduced that my power supply is about to crap out. I've been running it hard for a long time now, and it's finally choking and coughing. The smell is getting worse. 🙁 Downloading a utility now to look at the voltages... 🙁

[edit] ACK! The fumes are gagging me and aBit's FTP is fscking slow! Goodbye for a while, OT... 🙁

Well I hope you get that new power supply soon. Good luck in replacing it and hope that there is nothing else that needs to be replaced too. 🙂
 
thats Off topic even for off topic, hope ya can get a new one quick!! thats why i have 2 machines, only my roomate could kill 2 machines in the little time he's home that I'm not, so i have his machine in pieces, just in case to recover. . .
 
Let me suggest what I just ordered: an Enermax EG-351P-VE if 330-350w is enough for you. iIf you need more juice (after all that turning Japanese), go for a 451P. 🙂

BTW, I've used the 350W that people are recommending... It's a kick-ass P/S, &amp; a fair amount cheaper than the 450.

Well, I'm back up... for now. 🙁
I only had $40 to go around and needed this thing up tonight, so I ended up shelling it out to those cretins at CompUSA for a noname 300W supply. It's off to a bad start, the labels are on upside-down and over half of the vents are blocked because of the way it installs. :|


Grrrrr :| Then ventilation of this thing is so bad, I'm just gonna swap the supply cases. Back soon.
 
OK, swapped, but I'm still not happy with its cooling. I had to hardwire the power and voltage switches to get it in the new casing, but, whatever. I think I'll start a poll.

i had a 230 watt crap out on my a few months ago, the voltages went freaky and my asus pcprobe wouldn't stop beeping... my enermax 330 watt is nice though...
 
I have a 145w in this P83 I think.

In my dead comp I have a 230w from the 486 days. Still seems to work fine (unless it has something to do with my last two mobos crapping out).

Another Vote for the Enermax 451......Damn what a good Power Supply had one for about 6 months or so and love it.

I just installed an Enermax 351 into my Enlight 7237 yesterday.

I love those long ass leads, and there are enough to run every peripheral in my arsenal. Now I can actually consider installing some extra fans inside the desk cubby to get the hot air outside.

Check flea-bay for a good price in these.
