How can you spend so much time on a single series of books when there's millions of other books to read? I mean.. doesn't it ever get boring to know completely what will happen before you read it?

have you ever watched a movie more than once?

have you ever read lotr?

i probably won't read them again but i have to say i do "miss" the characters in the books.

movies maybe 2 hours.. 3 hrs max. and most people rarely watch a movie again.. well atleast i don't unless its incredible. its not as if theres a shortage of other movies i could watch instead.

books take a long time, esp a thosuand page book. thats like a full day of reading.. day and night. theres vast amounts of quality literature out there...too much to waste that much time on one book repeatedly.... lifes too short🙂

Ok, so I'm in the middle of FOTR, and I just finished the chapter titled In the House of Tom Bombadil....

Can anybody tell me who the hell this guy is? Is this all we see of him? Talk about weird.

You know who he reminds me of? Astinus/Gilean frome the DL novels...

he is just some guy living in the woods near buckshire (i think) that knows the ents in that forest. i think he is immortal, and i found most of that chapter to be pretty boring, except when they stayed in his house. i don't like the songs either

i think Peter Jackson didn't do anything for this scene, but you here mary and pippin talk about this scene when they are with the ents in fanghorn forrest.

ok, just finished the Hobbit for the first time, about to dig in the LOTR. 😀

So far I'm enjoying reading them after seeing the films, even more than I think I would have enjoyed the films if I'd read the books first..

did that make sense ?
