My motorcycle is broke. I am not too mechancially inclned but I will tell you what I think went wrong from what my dad and my brother told me. My older brother was ripping down the highway and the vavles were clicking so loud that it was all you could hear (louder that the exhaust). My dad thinks the timing chain broke so that cause the valves to open too far or something. Is my bike screwed? or alot of work to change a timing chain? God I hope it is ok I will go crazy without it.

I dont have a digi cam or pics but it is a 1983 suzuki gr650 with about 125000 miles on it. I belive the odometer has turned over once. I know it is really old and has been a started bike for 3 people including my older brother and me but I dont want it to die *cries* It was always kept really well except there was a small oil leak comming from the cam chain tensioner but was never fixed because the whole engine would have to come out so we just kept putting oil in it. It was a VERY small leask but was still there

i had a cam chain tensioner problem with a honda cx500. Soon after the dealer did the recall, the bike's engine burned out..literally. The spark plugs had melted up and some stuff inside the engine case was effed up too.

The valves were clicking?... Hmm.. Are you sure he wasn't hearing pinging?

The timing chain breaking wouldn't cause the valves to open too far.. You would know it if a valve "fell" into the cylinder, as your engine would come to quite a dramatic halt. Not to mention it would probably spit the valve out through the head. :D

125,000 miles.. and the odometer has flipped once? So are you saying the bike has 1,125,000 miles on it? :p

They were pinging I miss understood. The odometer goes up to 100,000 miles so it flipped and now its 125,000 miles. This summer I put 5,500 miles on it. I have gotten news that it is pretty bad and my dad is going to talk to a mechanic tommorow. I have not gone 2 days without riding since I got it and I am staring to go crazy I cant stand not riding it like a drug or something. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
