Radeon® X850 Pro 256MB AGP Hot Deal from ATI.com

or

XFX GeForce 6800 Xtreme AGP 256MB GDDR3 Dual DVI

Cost will be about the same after shipping... I'm attracted to the GeForce because of the Dual DVI (I have twin 204B's) but I was wondering what the performance difference would be. I'd be playing SimCity 4, HL2, Doom3 and Quake4. Most reviews for the GeForce don't take into account its higher than normal GPU clock speed for an XT Geforce...

Other system specs: P4 2.8/800, IC7, 1024MB ram, Radeon 9800pro

This will definitley be my last upgrade to this platform ever... I just want to drag out getting a new pc for another year or two.

I got the idea that the x1600pro isn't worth looking at....

6800XT = crippled version of the regular 6800, which is a crippled version of the 6800Ultra (how they manage that no one knows).
X850Pro = crippled version of the X850XT, and it's better.

6800xt is 8 pipes, x850pro is 12 pipes. Both has chances of unlocking but x850pro should still be faster even if 6800xt unlocks to 12 pipes.

6800xt is just slightly better than the 6600gt because of its bigger memory bandwith and more memory. get the x850 pro

X850 Pro out of those 2

You might also want to consider a 7600GS/GT or a X850XT. Prics aren't much higher for the GT/XT, and are about the same for the GS.

I'm in a similar situation and I can't find an AGP version of the X850XT for a reasonable price, anywhere and the prices vary, wildly.

Can anyone direct me/us?

Is it worth waiting for the 7600 GT AGP?

Thanks,

John
