I saw this as an option in the bios ( 1.55, 1.6 and auto). What do ppl change their agp voltages for?

I guess to give more power to their AGP card if they are overclocking. When you OC you sometimes need more voltage for the hardware that is being OC'ed. However, more voltage = more heat.

Absolutlely nothing! :p Seriously, I don't think it's of much use, even when overclocking your AGP card. I leave mine @ 1.5v.

I think it used to be a big advantage back in the days when motherboards didn't have AGP/PCI lock. When you ran your videocard AGP out of 66mhz spec, it would help stability.

I am not sure how it improves actual memory/gpu core clock speeds though, or stability today. I have mine at 1.55.

Why 1.6? I've actuallly been looking for and answer to exactly what my rig should be set at......anyone know?

The Asus A8V only gives me the option of 1.5 or 1.6. What should a PNY 6800 Ultra be set to? Right now it's at 1.5, but I have been having some wierd gpu problems in windows (2d mostly).

Thanks guys.

Has it always been like that or is it different now that you have the 6800?

1.7v or below should be fine. it allows for an AGP that is more out of spec, and unless you go above 1.7v, it will definately not damage anything.

Run it at the lowest voltage that your system is stable at. It is sometimes useful when overclocking an AGP card. It is also sometimes necessary to raise it even when not overclocking as was the case with a lot of the early Radeon 9700 Pro cards.

Ha, I have all the voltages on my board at max to try to get the best OC out of them. My MSI board allows 1.8 AGP voltage, and I am able to OC my rad 9600xt, 500/600 to 576/750. Since, it is running stable, I don't mess with it, and I haven't cooked it yet :) I'll let you know if I do, heh.
