gracias, its looks like that makes my choice easy, im wanting to be able to play The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion when it comes out this holiday season and it actually supports SM 3.0 so while the nvidia cards are the only ones that support it and theres not agp version of the 7*** series card then the 6800(gt?) Ultra seems to be my best bet....ive heard that ATI's cards been pushed back more then once, any chance it out be out by christmas, and would just taking a guess do you think that there will be an agp version for their newer cards?

Thanks for all the help!

ATI stopped offering high-end AGP before nvidia did, so don't count on any new ATI AGP support.

Best would be to wait and find out how much video card power Oblivion really needs on the PC for the resolution you want to run at. If an AGP card will do that, then great otherwise move to a new PCI-E setup.

Anything you buy now may be badly underpowered depending on how much eye candy Bethesda crams into Oblivion. There is no way to know what you'll need until the game is shipping.

What you mean no? I just replied before you with a link to our dear AT, where it clearly says an AGP version of 7800gt is on its way...

thanks DaFinn for pointing that out, ill probably wait if i can for an agp version of those....if i gotta go with a older slot type then i might as well get the best thatll fit it right heh

btw, as an alternative, or an easier way to switch over...how reliable are the motherboards that support BOTH cards...ive seen at least one motherboard that has a little sliding edge to make it fit both size cards....any specific recommendations for mobo's that support this feature? AMD 64 compatible please.

perhaps this?
