I want to upgrade the video card in my machine but my choices seem limited by the agp voltage options. My motherboard does not support .8v AGP 8x - only 1.5v. It seems like the X1950Pro is the ticket but in order to run AGP8x it requires .8v.

I guess one question would be - what would the performance impact be of running an X1950Pro 512mb at AGP4x vs. 8x? This does not seem like a good idea to me.

So, the second question would be - what is the best choice for a video card in a mobo that runs AGP8x 1.5v and how does it compare to what I have now - a Radeon 9800Pro 256mb?

I doubt that running at 4x AGP on a X1950 pro would make much of a difference...considering that any AGP 4x based rig would be pretty under powered in terms of CPU power anyway.

But with that said the X1950 pro does work in AGP 4x motherboards, I have tested my Sapphire in a few and it had no ill effects on it.

But if you are still using an AGP 4x setup, you might want to consider a CPU and motherboard upgrade or a complete upgrade first....adding a X1950 to an old setup would not really be ideal...unless you are using a 3ghz+ P4 or something similar.
