Alright, So I am dog tired of using onboard video. I have been running i845 onboard for the past few years and I am going to get my parents i865 board that actually has an AGP slot. My dell never came with an agp slot. Always gotta cut corners somewhere..right?. So my parents have been running onboard and I want to get a decent AGP video card for it. The 7800GS is too far out of my price range unless someone wants to paypal me 150 bucks. So I was looking for like a 6800GS or 6800GT but could not find hardly any. I saw a few 6800GT but they were too expensive. The only thing decent left at newegg is the 6800XT. Or should I splruge and go with the 6800 vanilla that they have left from Asus there. I really don't want to go over 150 and preferably less the better.
Such as this bad boy:
XFX 6800XT
or should I go over to ATI and get one of these:
Sapphire X800GTO
or this:
Sapphire X1600PRO
Any other options. I plan on holding onto this system for at least 2 more years. It's a Northwood P4 2.8 512k cache. Intel 865 mobo. 2x512 (1gb) DDR Ram. It gets the job done that I need for it. And I can't afford to upgrade hugely right now. Maybe next year.
Any opinions on the video cards?
Edit: I want a good boost in video performance. I want to be able to play some decent games like F.E.A.R and such but as of now I can't even hardly play solitare...jk. But it doesn't have to be at the hightest settings by any means, as long as it runs smoothly i'll be happy.
