AGP version of X1800 and 7800 planned?

People should move on and let AGP die it's well deserved death. With NForce 4 SLI motherboards to be had for $100 there's no reason anyone should be bemoaning the fate of AGP.

they can or their partners can . . . easily and cheaply . . . it depends if they sense "demand"

and i 'm with the OP . . . next gen consoles provide much more bang-for-buck than PC gaming . . . we ain't losing anything by not 'upgrading' to pciE now.

Not everyone like to game on consoles though?

I see having a AGP motherboard sort of like having an Athlon XP processor. Sure, they still work, but you could be doing so much better for not much money.

Well gaming started on consoles . . .

Up till now, only the FPS was superior on the PC

Now - FPS players will likely get KB+Mouse support on at least some of the nextgen consoles . . . couple that with high-resolution [a monitor and/or hi-def] . . .

i see a $400 console BEATing the fastest SLI'd PC

Of course, none of this means that ATi & nVidia PARTNERS will be prohibited from bridging these chips back to AGP. . .

I think it's likely. . .there are still a lot of high end AGP rigs out there in geekland.

Actually Genx87 is right...

The new consoles are great, but even the nice new HDTVs are 720p or 1080i.

720/1080=the number of rows in the display and p=progressive; i=interlaced.

Interlaced generally flickers as it draws alternate lines with each pass.
Progressive is great, but 720p is basically 1024x768.

Certainly a big improvement over regular TVs and the current PS/Xbox...
...but it's still only 1024x768.

I enjoy fifa and burnout on my big HDTV screen and am looking forward to playing them in 720p.

Having said that, I play most PC games at 1600x1200...
......so you see, the detail on a PC monitor is higher than even next gen consoles..

Sony and MS, saving money on memory in consoles is another thing holding them back.

No more AGP from either nVidia or ATI...so to PCI-E we go....

Some of you like me have a 754 socket AGP Mobo with Athlon 64 3400+ CPU....

Buying a new 939 PCI-E mobo and 939 CPU is a good, but perhaps wasteful option..

Since the 754 CPUs are still good, you might want to look at a 754 socket PCI-E board and moving the memory and CPU.

Heh ... where have you been?

I play at 1920x1200. You go buy your "next gen" console and enjoy 1024x768.
