Question guys and gals. I currently have an x800 pro, not looking to upgrade to pci-e yet so I am looking for a good agp card. After checking varous threads on this and other forums it looks like the 7800GS
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130275
is the card to beat in terms of performance. My question is, is it worth upgrading from my current card ,x800 pro?

Any thoughts or comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

no no no no no :)

upgrading AGP in the first place is sinking money into a dead interface. The 7800gs will not follow u in ur next upgrade making it worthless to you at that point. In your case u have a really fast agp card already and a 7800gs is not gonna give u huge noticable differences. my advice is to save ur money and wait to upgrade to pci-e. the 7800gs is nowhere NEAR $300 worth of performance especially when the x1800xt and the 7900gt are currently at that same price point, both of which will outperform it by leaps and bounds.

My thought exactly. Just keep the x800pro until you upgrade your whole system to pci-e.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will most likely stick it out with my x800 until I upgrade to pci-e.

pro's OC and Ulock...

do it!

also, as an owner of both cards, i see very little if any difference between the 2 in performance on most games at 12x10...

sure it supports sm3 and all.. now if you happen to get a 7900gt AGP... that is 100% different
