Based on the system rig in my sig which AGP setting should i be using? at 4x every thing seems faster but other the nbeing noticable slower i dont have problems running x8

As long as your motherboard and video card both support 8x that's what I would do. 8x doesn't seem to improve performance much but every little bit helps.

problem is that 8x slows down my speed greatly and im pretty sure my mobo supports it fully :S ill look and make sure

PS. why does it say its at 8x in cmos but 4x on the ATI display thingy

PSS. heres the results of my search http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7v8x-x/overview.htm

AGP 8X Technology
AGP8X (AGP 3.0) is the next generation VGA interface specification that enables enhanced graphics performance with high bandwidth speeds up to 2.12GB/s. With a bus of 533MHz, AGP8X is twice as fast as AGP4X.

You may have to enable 8X speed through the SMARTGART panel in the ATI driver control panels (under Display Properties/Settings/Advanced...). Running the card at 4X and the slot at 8X may cause performance or stability issues. You may also want to try toggling your "AGP Fast Writes" setting to see if it helps; some motherboards don't like using it at 8X speed.

oh hey thanks a bunch i think i recall hearing about possible problems with the kt400 mobos using vid cards with fastwrite enabled 🙂 and ill try and find out why i cant change the agb setting in cmos (its faded and cant be selected) and i was using the SMARTGART panel to charge the above mentioned 😀
