agp standards?

Hi All. I just upgraded my file/db/web server from an abit kr7a to an abit kv8. I was going to reuse my old video card. A Nvidia TNT 1 with 16MB ram. I definitly don't use this computer for gaming so i didn't care. It ran at 1024x1280 just fine at 85hz. Well i went to see if the video card would fit in the agp slot of the new mb and it won't. I thought all agp was backward compatible. I guess i was wrong? What do i need to make sure when i buy a new card for this computer...that its at least agp 4x? I just want a cheap video card. Any help would be appreciated.

agp 8x is backwards compatible with agp 4x mobos, agp 4x cards are backwards compatible with agp 2x mobos, u cannot use a 2x card in a mobo that is 8x/4x only cuz the voltage is different. if u dont wanna game AT ALL, i would suggest a radeon 7000 or GF 2 MX. prices are down on the 9000s and GF4 mx's. go to newegg and find which ever is the cheapest that will fit ur bill.

BTW, agp is of course, not backwards compatible, with PCI.
