Has anyone ever worn out their AGP slot from taking the video card out and putting back in? Was just wondering how durable they are?

Are you asking how many times you can take out and put in an AGP card without damaging the slot? My guess is just about as many times as you want, it's not like there are any moving parts or anything. I would worry more about the repeated removals causing the entire AGP slot to become looser and looser.

Yeah I am talking about if I where to remove my current card for cleaning once/twice a month would it damage the AGP slot after so many times to where it won't read AGP video cards?

you must live in a very dusty atmosphere if you feel the need to clean your card 1-2 times/month!

You can purchase memory contact lubricant, and it also works on AGP cards. I use it from time to time.

No, it probably won't hurt the slot and I 've never worn one out either.

Tight fitting cards sometimes scrape the plastic a bit but I imagine it would be extremely hard to damage an AGP slot through normal use!

Well I have 2 cats in my room so things can get dusty quick. I myself have never worn one out either but I was just curious. I am gonna be upgrading to DDR within the next couple months so it won't matter.

sure you can it just makes logical sense plus the more you do take that card in and out the more you are looking for trouble like static!

How about taking an air compressor to it and just blowing the dust out of the whole machine instead of taking the card out every time?
