I'm thinking about upgrading my video card (currently a GeForce4 MX 440 128MB :( ) to a 9800 pro or maybe even a cheap x800.

The deal is, my motherboard (GigaByte (GA 7VA-C) only supports AGP 4x. Since most of these new cards are 8x, will they work on my mobo? Would it be worth upgrading my mobo to 8x?

Thanks

It will work. And no, there is no great benefit at this time to upgrading the mb. By the time apps/games catch up to the bandwidth of 8X, you will want PCI-express anyway.

I am running a G-force FX9500XT which is 8X on a Gigabyte board which only has 4XAGP as all runs fine.
Should be no prob at all.
