AGP power supply?

I'm building an athlon rig for my friend with a MSI K7 master mobo, and I noticed an AGP power supply plug next to the agp slot. I also found a connector coming from the PS that fits into this plug. My question is, is it necessary for me to plug this in? I've never seen this before.

That plug is for the future AGP Pro cards that have yet to appear. It provides the extra voltage that these cards supposedly will need.

True, it wouldn't matter. The 12V that those cards need are supplied via the part of the AGP connector that is closes to the rear of the case. Non-AGP Pro cards won't plug into that part of the connector. Most mobo's have a little plastic shunt in there to keep you from even trying.
