AGP/PCIe Mobos....

This year I'm thinking about changing my 3000+ A64 AGP system to a Dual Core CPU and moving to an AGP/PCIe board. Is there any way I can do that without reformating my drive or am I basically going to have to wipe it all? Anyone know if those MOBOs come with a bios allowing for dual cores or do you need to have a normal A64 to get it to boot and then update bios before going DC?
