AGP -> PCI?

My friend bought a computer from Dell without an AGP port. He was asking me if there is such thing as an AGP to PCI converter. It doesn't seem like there would be, because it would mess up the height of the video card. But you tell me, does such a thing exist? Also, what performance disadvantages do 3D PCI video cards have?

PCI video cards are limited in bandwidth.... And thus no one really makes any fast cards for PCI.

LOL there's definitely not a PCI to AGP slot converter so tell him sorry he's out of luck. Should of made a wiser choice before buying a DELL. PCI won't have the bandwidth that AGP slots have and if he wants a high end video card, he's definitely not going to be able to have one. 🙁

You could have him get a PCI video adapter, but like people are saying here, the PCI bus will limit the ability for the card to improve the video. I tried a PCI video card on one of my machines with no AGP slot, but onboard AGP and the video was slower using the PCI card with a much more superior chipset and video memory. Since Dell uses proprietary front panel connectors on some systems, if he considers replacing the motherboard to get one with an AGP slot he will probably have to replace the whole case.
