I am build my first PC, and I can't decide whether to go with AGP or PCI Express. It would help me a lot of someone could take the time out and technical details between the two. I want a card that is great for gaming and video editing. Thanks

Better to get now? Depends on how much you're willing to spend. PCX is going to be (performance-wise) much better both now and later compared to AGP, but it's also going to be quite a bit more expensive. PCX with a proper GPU (6800 Ultra or 2 of them in SLI, anyone?) would make for an "awesome" gaming and video editing machine, not just a great one. If you don't wanna spend the amounts needed to go PCX (costs for mobo and video card/cards) then AGP with one of the newer high end cards would definitely still make for a great gaming and video editing machine both now and a decent way into the future (couple of years... max).

i'd stick with agp - pci express is still hard to find, both on boards and supported cards.

and i've put my money where my mouth is - just spend $400 on a new video card (agp) and $80 on a new sound card (pci)

Current video cards are not bandwidth restricted so the difference between the two at the moment is zero as far as 8x V 16x goes.
PCI-E in my book is far more exciting for the overhaul of the unevolved PCI bus/slots.Individual slots with individual buses with no bandwidth sharing is what iam looking forward to as it will make more of a difference in the short term than giving extra bandwidth to graphics cards that are hardly using what they have now.

I'll have to agree with Frost on this one, everywhere I look the I am told that the bandwidth the the PCI Express boasts is completely uneeded today, and probably will be for a little while.
