Hi, I' currently building a HTPC out of an old shuttle system I have. So far everything is working fine however i'm looking at installing a new graphics card to replace the onboard graphics. Problem is it's AGP.
currently almoast everything plays however there are a couple of HD videos that stutter a little bit, I also need outputs other than VGA.
I'm looking at a agp powercolor 3650 512mb, which would do the job perfectly as it has hardware h.264 and VC-1 and isn't to overpriced, however it has a fan and if posible i'd like to go for something with passive cooling, and I also feel that the card seems like overkill for my needs.
Does anyone know if there are any other agp cards avalible (either nvidia or ati) that would be apropriate? prevrably something of a simlar age for the sake of hardware accelerated video.
Thanks

Well you could try to find an HD3450 for AGP. It should handle HD video fine and there are probably passively cooled cards available.

For sure get a ATI 1950 AGP . You can play games with it too, suffice not at that fast speeds for todays games. gl see if you can find one on ebay if you cant find one on the net,,, good luck Youll like the board and its 2D quality. gl

For HTC usage, the HD 2600PRO and the HD 3450/HD3650 are your best bets, the X1950GT/PRO consumes more power and lacks of decent H.264/BluRay acceleration.
