AGP Fast Writes!?!?!?!

It seems, that after I turned off AGP Fast Writes, games that used to be jerky, seem to have gotten smooth now! What are the advantages of having it on, and what was its original purpose. In my rig, would it be better to leave it on or off? Also, what does side band addressing do?

Fast Write makes data from the graphics card go directly to the CPU rather than through the system memory to the CPU. It's supposedly faster, but often causes system instabilities or jerky performance. In most cases you just want Fast Write to be turned off.

Side Band Addressing has something to do with allowing the data to go through a couple more lines on the AGP slot, resulting in more bandwidth availability, but I'm not sure. Someone else can clear this up for us.

No problems, but games play smoother when it is off!

TURN IT OFF.

Not only does it not provide any real performance, maybe a fraction of a percentage; not only does it sometimes make your computer slower, by the same fraction of a percentage; not only does it decrease stability; BUT, it also hinders overclocking potential!
